ABDOUL
Cornell University,
Urban and Religious Studies

Abdoul says, “if you want a better tomorrow, start building it today.” His experience with College AIM has been a learning process of perfecting applications and shaping overall priorities. His fondest memory of the program is when he attended workshops to conquer his college apps (those dreaded forms). He was able to chip away at his applications with the help of our dedicated staff; to his surprise, he also received one-on-one advice from the admissions staff at his dream school!
As a student, he aims for the highest level of perseverance. His favorite course was a surprise to him, one he took as a challenge and ended up rocking: Calculus. The rigor is what he liked most, and his study habits and time management skills have become amazing, squared. What else got him through? Generating a close, trusted relationship with his teacher. Recognizing her care made him feel at ease during the intimidating transition to college.
Abdoul’s dream school was Cornell, and he’s now a freshman on campus there (Go Big Red!), where he studies Urban and Religious Studies. A degree for him means a sharper mind, a means to earn and support his family, and a way to propel him into a position to also help his community. Soon enough, he’ll be creating transportation systems in developing communities to help bridge the gap, both income and social, between demographics.
In his free time, Abdooul is a family man. He enjoys hanging out with his nieces and nephews, maybe playing basketball or exploring the endless worlds that await him in various books.
We admire your vision and tenacity, Abdoul!
